November 16

To say I miss the kids at Local Catholic School is an understatement . . . those kids brightened my day, tested my patience, taught me something new every single day.

One of my greatest regrets is that I didn’t get to say good-bye to them when I left.

One of the great things about living in Small Town and being less than a mile away from Local Catholic School is that I run into “my kids” from time to time . . . at the grocery, at the local restaurants, at the local department store, sometimes they come see me at the library where I work now . . . and it brightens my day every time I hear “Mrs. S!” and see the smiles on their faces when they see me . . . it makes me feel good that they miss me almost as much as I miss them . . .

I ran into one of “my kids” today at the checkout lane of my favorite grocery store.  This lovely young lady was THE BAGGER taking care of packing up my groceries.  Oh goodness.  How is it possible that she is old enough to be a bagger at my favorite grocery store?!  Wasn’t it just last year she was a new freshman all shy and bashful because she had just moved to the area and it was her first day at Local Catholic School?  So if she’s old enough to work that has to mean she’s old enough to drive . . .

Oh heavens . . . it makes me happy to see them growing up and becoming wonderful adults . . . but it reminds me that I’m getting old . . .
