I went to Florida . . . I haven’t been to Florida in many, many years. My parents took us almost every year when I was little and it has always been on my bucket list to go back. XH lived in Florida for a few years after he got out of the Navy and never had any desire to ever go back . . . Prince Charming and I always said we’d go “someday” . . .
My dear friend took me to her favorite place . . . Anna Maria Island.
I spent a week doing absolutely nothing . . . we played trivia and won . . . and found a fellow Buckeye! There were lots of Buckeyes in Florida!
We had lovely meals by the beach
I did the silly tourist thing and went shopping for souvenirs. Because you can never go wrong with oven mitts with pink flamingos on them!
We drove because we wanted to make a side trip to eat fried green tomatoes at The Whistle Stop Cafe.
But I had no idea it would take us FOREVER to get through Atlanta (and now that I know that tidbit of information the next time I go to Florida, I’m flying). At one point, I swear it looked like the poster for The Walking Dead! (but I couldn’t get a good picture of it)
I enjoyed people watching on my morning walks on the beach . . . the older guy that really rocked the little red Speedo, the young guy that ran on the beach every morning, the lady that didn’t believe in shaving, the young guy that was fishing every morning. And watching the local wildlife . . . turtles and birds! I didn’t get to see any baby turtles but I did see some baby birds
But mostly . . . I had some quiet time that I desperately needed . . . where the biggest decision of the day was do we go to the beach or the pool? Or which pair of flip flops do I wear? Or how far do we want to walk for dinner?
I made a promise to myself that it won’t be 36 years before I go back.
