Back In Business

When FIL got sick back in 2001, Hubby and I did everything we could to help MIL care for him.  We didn’t have a clue what we were doing most of the time, but we had good intentions.  Because of our lack of skills and our good intentions, some of our attempts at helping were rather amusing to watch.  We called ourselves Dumb & Dumber Health Care.  When FIL passed away and our services were no longer needed, Dumb & Dumber Health Care went on hiatus.
Since MIL has some health concerns, Dumb & Dumber Health Care makes occasional appearances but it hasn’t been a full time enterprise.  That changed this week.  We’ve noticed over the summer that she’s been short of breath and having trouble getting around.  We’ve been strongly suggesting that she visit her lung doc for quite some time, but she’s always dismissed our concerns and says, "I’m fine."  So we really had no choice but to wait until she felt ready to address the situation.
She addressed it last Thursday.  She finally went to the lung doc.  He admitted her to the hospital for some tests.  She’s been diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis and has been sent home with oxygen and a walker.  There are all sorts of new restrictions to her life because of the disease and she’s not happy about it.  She needs help with a lot of things now.  Dumb & Dumber Health Care is back in business.
We always knew that it was going to happen.  But knowing it was going to happen doesn’t make it any easier when it does.

You are to be commended for your health care business.  I know it is not easy as I have lived through it.  You may stumble along but it will all sort itself out in the end and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you did everything you could.

DDHC-Dumb & Dumber Health Care….Bless You, Pam.  I am so grateful my daddy is in good shape at the ripe age of 73.  While I don\’t mention it to him or to friends, I knew there will come a day when something happens to him.  I mean, that\’s life.  But **whew!** when it does, I will be so devestated.  But I will open my own DHC (since there\’s just me, not spouse I\’ll just be Dumb) and do what I can for him.
    Prayers to you and Hubby.

When you said Dumb & Dumber Healthcare, I at first thought you were talking about Canada\’s crummy socialized medicine. Hugs to you!

Oh how I can relate at this very moment as I visit my own dear Mom who is recovering from surgery.  Thankfully, she just needs a chauffeur and a friend right now.  Gets around slowly, so I\’m trying my best not to do the speed walk thing as we shop together.  But otherwise, so far so good! All the best to MIL as you provide D&DH support.  You\’re a blessing, no matter what.
