I’m not too fond of the bitterly cold temperatures – or the below zero wind chill numbers – but I’m really liking the snow showers that we’ve had this week. Most of them are during the day while I’m at work or at night while I’m sleeping. Nothing serious enough to cause any problems with the roads. The yucky mud is covered up and the snow is brightening up things a bit. I went out to do an errand this morning and it was really nice being out there with the snow showers.
My cold isn’t too bad. More of an annoyance than anything else. I don’t really have any serious symptoms so it’s kind of hard to figure out what kind of cold meds to take. Do they make something for "feeling blah"? My nose is a little stuffy. I did have a problem with watery eyes, but that ended after a day. My nose is stuffed up – which is better than having it run all the time. Oh, and I have this really wimpy sounding cough. I would really like to be able to take a nap right about now. With as bad as I felt on Monday, I thought for sure I’d be way sicker than this by now. But I’m not complaining.
Even Blacky and Luci are enjoying the cold weather. Luci’s having the time of her life going outside to play in the snow. She’s learned to make snow angels . . . she’ll flop onto her back and wiggle in the snow like she’s making a snow angel. Then she’ll get up, shake all the snow off of her back, and then go lay on her belly and chew on her frozen tennis ball. Blacky will go outside and just sit on the deck and watch the world go by – and he’ll stay out there for a really long time. I finally have to call him inside because I’m thinking that he’s getting cold out there and he needs to be inside. If I go outside for any reason (usually to take out the trash or take something to the recycle bin), they go with me and think it’s time to play fetch. Yes, I’m wearing my coat whenever I go outside so that the cold doesn’t get worse. I slipped on the ice this morning and ended up in a heap at the bottom of the hill in the back yard. Luckily I didn’t hurt anything and I don’t think anybody saw me fall. But the dogs thought it was a hoot that Mommy was rolling in the snow and came running down the hill to roll in the snow with me. It would have been a lot of fun except I was dressed for work and didn’t have time to change clothes.
My brain is a little foggy because of the cold weather and the cold meds that I’ve been taking. . . and the fact that I’ve been staring at financial reports for three days. Maybe it’s not such a good idea to work on year end reports when you’re doing Sudafed and Nyquil.
