Before I get to today’s blog, I want to say that I was very disappointed in the final episode of "Seventh Heaven." It was choppy, it went too fast, and they tried to cram too much stuff into one hour. If they were going to include a clip show into the final episode, they should have had a two hour episode. I had a feeling that the wedding wasn’t going to happen. It was all they talked about for the last few weeks. And what was with all the kids having twins? I know that twins run in families, but three sets of twins being born at the same time is stretching it a bit. Yea, it left a lot of doors open if they decide to do a movie or a spin-off, but come on. A show as good as "Seventh Heaven" deserved a lot better than what it got.
Now onto the real topic for today. Luci and Blacky are just too funny sometimes. I swear they’re like little people. They bicker with each other. They fight for our attention. Most of the time, Blacky acts like Luci is a pain in his behind, but if Blacky doesn’t know you’re watching, he’s actually nice to her and he’ll even let her follow him around the yard. (Blacky’s never been violent towards Luci, he just considers her a pest and will walk away from her if she gets on his nerves too much. The funny part is that she’ll keep following him until he gives me that "Help me, Mom" look and I have to get Luci interested in something besides bothering Blacky.)
Other doggie stuff . . . .
Luci and the lattice – okay, I admit defeat on this one. I thought I had a solution to keep Luci from tearing the wood lattice off the deck. The lime juice and vinegar mix worked – I just had to make sure that I sprayed all exposed lattice. Believe it or not, Luci will look for that one spot that has not been sprayed and then pull that piece of lattice off. Needless to say, Hubby was not a happy camper when he discovered that she tore a new hole in the wood lattice. He took down all the flimsy wood lattice and replaced it with this hard plastic lattice. So far, so good. It’s only been a couple of days, but she hasn’t shown any interest in chewing on the hard plastic lattice. Do I dare hope that it’s safe?
Sleeping through the night – no, she’s not doing that yet. I’ve been running that little dog all over the yard playing fetch, doing obedience training, walks. You name it. I’m exhausted after the work out, so I figure she must be too and that she’ll sleep through the night. Wrong! She’s STILL getting up in the middle of the night. But it’s not necessarily to go to the bathroom. It’s to play!! This morning she came to my side of the bed at 3 a.m. I thought she had to go out to potty. Nope, she wanted to play with her stuffed toy. I told her that it wasn’t time to get up and to go back to sleep. After a couple more trips around the bed (and after she stepped on Blacky and he barked at her), she realized I wasn’t getting up and went back to sleep.
Getting my attention – this morning as I was getting ready for work, she came into the bathroom and nudged me in the leg with her nose. I asked her what she wanted and she did it again. I asked if she had to potty and she took off for the stairs. So I go downstairs and let her and Blacky out the back door. She sat at the back door and barked at me. Just one bark. Nope, she didn’t need to go out to potty. She wanted Mommy to play fetch with her. Awww . . . . how sweet! So there I was at 7:15 this morning – no make up, hair only half done – playing fetch with the doggies. Yea, I was running a little late for work, but I just couldn’t resist their big brown eyes (Blacky wanted to play fetch too, I think he sent Luci upstairs to get me!)
I know that I’ve said that raising dogs is easier than raising kids . . . but sometimes I wonder. I think these two dogs are smarter than me and I’m in big trouble if they decide to put their heads together to dream up some mischief.
